We found a great place to find (free) dinner right across the harbor from our place in NH. These are soft-shell clams - NOT "little necks" as you can see from the pic above. We also found out afterwards we weren't supposed to find and eat them without a permit, but, uh, too late now! They were, by far, the freshest, cleanest and tastiest clams we've ever eaten! And a great excuse to play in the low tide muck. Nothin' better.
